Accepted contract today for first time home buyer couple with 4 kids

A couple (first time home buyers) put in an offer for a home and it was accepted today.  They are in a mobile home with soft floor spots, no windows, and no screens.  It was quite a blessing to get to take them over to the home this evening for the first time with their four daughters.

The oldest had never had a bedroom of her own.  The middle two are sharing a huge bedroom.  Their facial expressions and comments were ones of great excitement as they saw the basement that alone has more square footage than their mobile home had.

It will indeed be a Happy Thanksgiving for them this year.  May you and yours have a thankful time with family next week.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks!

That's a great story for this time of year and one of the best reasons we can be thankful to work in real estate. Congratulations to you and your buyers!

This is only one of the many reasons we do what we do. ReaffIrming our desire to help people. A nice touch would be a complimentary Turkey for their first Thanksgiving dinner as a closing gift...some food for thought!  Congratulations!

Thanks John.  I'm sure we will be hearing more great things going on in other AR member's blogs.  When the world news comes on you don't usually hear very many good stories.  I'd personally like to hear this type of story in the news.  Maybe the "AR Good News" evening report will get started on how AR members have helped in our community or state.  I know many who went to NOLA for Nardigras helped work on building a home for Habitat.  That's great news too.  There's a family that will receive a great blessing from that for sure.

Thanks Allison.  Helping people is what it is all about.  Yes, we have to eat too but when we can help someone else get into a home and move to first time home buying, it just shows how rewarding this vocation can be.  My closing gift to them is a home warranty, which it is for every buyer, but I had already planned on the "food for thought" as something additional for this family.  While I am sure they will enjoy the meal, it will be more of a blessing for me to give.

Thanks Lucky (DB).  In all the years you have been in real estate, I know you have helped at least dozens of people in special ways and never said a word about it to anyone.  I didn't do this blog to brag about what I have done but to share some good news in a family's life.  Maybe you can share some good news too up there in your Iowa blogs?

I know exactly how you feel as I had the very same situation earlier this year.  My family was living in a two bedroom apartment with four children...three boys and a girl.  They were so excited to be in their new home with a backyard to play in.  Truly made me feel good to help them get into their new home!!

Please see update to this blog on http://activerain.com/blogsview/24516/Family-of-6-may

I decided a new blog was in order for this family rather than just adding a comment here that might not get noticed.

Please read http://activerain.com/blogsview/24516/Family-of-6-may to see how this family almost ended up homeless right before Christmas.
