Does Television Marketing Work?

Hi,

I bought some local television marketing on KSHB-TV http://www.nbcactionnews.com/Click here to see my 15 second commerical.  There is also a 30 second commercial where I am one of the two Realtors featured.

My questions are, 1) How many Active Rainers have used tv commercials/marketing? and 2) What results did you get from it?  The spots start on Wednesday on tv and on the tv station's website.

I am sure you will receive a lot of exposure, however, I am afraid to ask how much money you spend on this kind of advertising.

I like to tell you about the newest, most innovative, cutting edge technology that includes LIVE WEB BROADCASTING. You have the ability to do a LIVE WEB BROADCAST at any time, to anywhere in the world.

During your Live Web Broadcast you can demonstrate virtual tours, pictures, power slides, videos etc. You have the ability to archive these broadcasts for later viewing. You also have the ability to answer questions (viewers can ask questions via text) from your viewers and you can answer LIVE.

You can do a Live Web Broadcast with 3 clicks of the mouse, all you need is a Web-Cam, there are no downloads, no special software required. Prices start at $ 9.95 per month - $ 39.95, no contract.

You will also be able to send Video Emails with 3 fully customizable Banners, which banners can be linked to any web-site, URL-Link, Virtual Tour, Video Clip, Pictures, documents etc. Have you ever received a Video Email ? It's very powerful, makes you stand out, and impresses clients.

Besides Video Email and the Live Web Broadcast, you can post Video Blogs, Video Podcasts and much more.

All products and services I am describing were just featured in the Florida Realtor Magazine in the July 2007 edition.

Thanks Christina for the info.  I will have to check it out.

Yes tv is expensive and web broadcasts are relatively inexpensive.

Thanks again!

When I first found about these products and services thru another Realtor, I was just blown away by the technology and what it can do for any business in regard to marketing and communication strategies. The price is almost too good to be true, but it is the truth ! Hope you like what you see.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for the extra link.  I checked out several of the web broadcasts and cutting edge it definitely is!  However, the buffering delays and cut-outs of videos (and I have great cable broadband) is not something for me until they figure out better compression fo smaller files.  I see this being something that will work out great in a few years when memory obstacles and bandwidth limitations have been overcome.

Thanks!

Rob - I'll pay attention and see if I notice them.  I hope you get a good ROI. But will this stretch you thin?  I'm just asking because it seems you may get quite a few inquiries from parts of KC you really don't want to service.  Maybe you could refer out some but I'm wondering if most won't just see you are from Lawrence and move on.  I'm just curious more than anything.  Doesn't Lawrence have a tv station?  I can't recall.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your comments!  Lawrence receives KSHB-TV (NBC Kansas City) on Sunflower Broadband channel 14.  Lawrence has a local cable channel but is only on very limited hours.  I'm working on a Kansas City KS and a Carbondale KS (south of Topeka) listing right now and already have one in Leavenworth as well as others in Douglas County.

This program has 25 Realtor neighborhood areas involved right now with a maximum planned of 38.  The idea is that when consumers select a neighborhood on the website or request a neighborhood when they call in they will be connected with the Realtor for that neighborhood.  Therefore, I would never receive a lead from someone requesting Kansas City, OP, or Olathe.  However, a Lawrence consumer could see the commerical of a Realtor in Grandview for instance and visit the website or call in and when they select or ask for Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin, Tonganoxie, Lecompton, DeSoto, or McLouth they would be forwarded to me.

I hope this helps explain the program a little better.

Thanks again for stopping by and for being on the look out for all the commercials.  These are the times for tomorrow (Friday).  However, it is quite possible none of these will be mine.

Rob,

Your commercial is VERY fast!  I literally played it through back to back seven times before I got all the information, however, I am a little slow on the uptake :)

Maybe if you focused on just a couple thoughts.....your name & your number.  15 seconds is just too short for a lot of info.  It seems that they are promoting ActionNews.com more than you.

I've been doing TV commercials for almost 2 years at a cost of about $1,ooo per month.  In our market, that buys me 22 commercials per month, played for 30 seconds, and scheduled in a one week period for maximum exposure on the number one channel in our area.  There is some cutesy stuff to gain attention to the commercial and then my name and number........Call Lucky (563) 676-9031......

By keeping it simple, people need only to remember to call Lucky.  It has tremendously increased my awareness in the market and I get remarks to me daily from people who have seen them.  How much business I receive per year on them is anyone's guess.  It is working though to increase name recognition which is critical in this business.

Good luck with your plan.

Lucky :)
