Remove all MLS Photos of Homes for Sale Now!! MLS Photos seems to be a subject with a lot of variety and interest among REALTORS.
I read a blog today about a REALTOR who didn't like his photos of homes for sale getting stolen (used by other REALTORS). While I agree other REALTORS should take their own photos and I agree the photos belong to the REALTOR taking the photos, I personally don't have time to be the PHOTO POLICE!
I offered the REALTOR a solution shown below. I believe there may be some advantages to my solution to Remove all MLS Photos of Homes for Sale Now!!
I have a solution for you. Just do videos of the property instead of photos of the house. With your voice and your contact info on the video, no one in the world would steal it from you. You would only need to upload one photo to the MLS that states "Search for the address of this property on Google for a narrated video tour". If the home buyer is too lazy to do the search, they will call you for a showing or for photos. At that point, you could either set up the showing or send photos and start a dialog with that buyer about their housing needs and whether they have a house to sell. No more stolen photos, new buyer, and maybe new seller. WIN-WIN-WIN!!

MLS Photos of Homes for Sale -- Have them or not?? They certainly cause problems having them. They certainly cause problems not having them.
If we were all to agree to Remove all MLS Photos of Homes for Sale Now!!, the only way a buyer could see the inside of the house would be to set up a showing appointment or ask the listing agent or their buyer agent to ask the listing agent for photos.
The old phrase "You have to list to last" would actually come back into play and buyer agents with no listings would have a harder time getting the calls because their IDX websites wouldn't have any photos other than for the buyer to search for a video of the home on Google which will have the listing agent's contact information; not theirs. This could end up being the demise of IDX websites!! Oh my!! Where are we going with this?
Would sellers agree to have NO photos of their home on the MLS? I know I could sell this to home sellers here in the Lawrence Kansas area. If we Remove all MLS Photos of Homes for Sale Now!!, buyers or their agents would have to call me to get them. I could then give the request info to the seller who would be thrilled to know exactly when someone was looking at the photos of their house. Right now, sellers have no idea if a buyer is looking at the photos of their house or not.
REALTORS, Home Sellers, Home Buyers, why don't you weigh in with your thoughts?
